Hey Friends!!

I’m so excited to share the recipe for this Punch Bowl Cake with you today! This was another recipe I found while browsing through my mom’s cookbook a couple weeks ago. My mom said that she had gotten the recipe from a friend & she remembered that it was delicious!

It’s a layered dessert with made with fruit, pudding, cool whip, & angel food cake. It’s light and refreshing which makes it perfect for summer time!! 🙂

I think this “cake” is supposed to be made in an actual punch bowl, but I decided to make it in the trifle bowl that you see in the photo above. I did have to modify it slightly to make it fit.

Ingredients:
1- box Angel Food Cake (prepared)
1- 16 oz container of cool whip
2- boxes vanilla flavored instant pudding (prepared)
2- pints strawberries
3- bananas
1- 20 oz can pineapple chunks

Directions:
Prepare angel food cake per box instructions. Let cool & then cut (or tear) into small pieces.

Prepare vanilla pudding per box instructions.

Layer ingredients as follows: 1/2 of angel food cake on bottom, then add 1/2 of pudding, add all of pineapple, add all bananas, add 1/2 of cool whip topping, add rest of cake, add rest of pudding, add all of strawberries, add rest of cool whip.

(To prepare in the trifle bowl, I only used about 3/4 of the cake total. I used only 1 pint of strawberries & 2 bananas. Everything else stayed the same.)

And because everything is cuter in a mason jar, I thought it might be fun to make some individual servings of this dessert…..

I used an 8 oz mason jar & just layered the ingredients in the same order you see above. I just added about a tablespoon of each ingredient. It made for a perfect individual size serving and would be great for parties!

I hope you give this recipe a try! Enjoy!

  5. Tonya, I am ready to try your Punch Bowl Cake in the mason jars. I have just one question. Bananas tend to darken almost as soon as you slice them. For this make-ahead dessert, did you add anything to the banana slices to keep them yummy looking? Thanks for sharing. Pat.
