Stop & Smell The Rose's Vlog

Hey Friends!

Hope you all are having a great week!!

Today, I am participating in the "Stop & Smell The Roses" Vlog Link-up at House of Rose. Vlogging is something that is a little bit foreign to me, but I really want to get better at it!! I thought Mandy's party would help me to improve my vlogging skills & hold me accountable so that I would have to vlog at least once a week. I'm hoping the more I put myself behind the camera, the more comfortable I will get!! I would love to incorporate vlogging into the DIY tutorials on this blog. I think it would be super helpful to SEE the steps rather than just read them in a blogged tutorial.

With that being said, this video is far from perfect!  I am going to have to look into some video editing software to make my videos a little more interesting & I'm also in need of a good tripod!! My hubby filmed this vlog for me last night & you will probably notice a little camera shake going on. Oh well, you learn as you go, right?! If you have any suggestions on video editing software (for PC) or what kind of tripod I should get, please leave them in the comment section!!

Shelf Vignette with Vintage Finds...

Hello Friends!!

It's hard to believe that Monday is here and Blissdom is over! What a fabulous conference it was!! I will be doing a Blissdom recap post probably later this week to fill you in on all the fun we had & giving you a little overview of the conference, but today I wanna share with you a little something I've been working on.

Do you remember my shopping trip to Kirkland's a while back?!
Well, I never showed you what I bought....

I love my new shelf!! Isn't it cute?!

Part of the reason why I hadn't shown it to you yet is because I been busy trying to fill it!! I think I finally have it the way I like it....at least for now!! :)

The shelf has kind of an old vintage feel to it, so I wanted to fill it with items that I thought would compliment that. For me, that meant lots of glass decor & other rusty vintage finds....

The shelf is hanging above the board & batten wall in my living room where my Craigslist dresser is going (btw, I finished it before I left for Blissdom....I'll be sharing that with you soon!) and because there is so much blue/aqua in my living room, I thought it would be great to incorporate that color using aqua colored mason jars & other glass items....
I found this little vintage clock above at one of our local antique shops along with the Ball mason jar. I just love the way they look together.

This other glass jar was also a local antique store find. I It ties in nicely with the other blue jar & I especially love its shape & the rusty wire handle! :)

The "Faith, Family, Friends" sign was one that I already had lying around the house as well as the little wooden box that houses those 4 glass jars. I used both in my Summer Mantel last year. The aqua insulator was also a local antique store find.

The blue frame, keys, & glass jar/vase were all purchased at Kirkland's the same day I bought the shelf.

Another shot of my cute little clock.....

These old books & little scale were also purchased at one of our local antique stores. I've been wanting an antique scale for a while & I loved how little this one was, and the fact that it match the color scheme I was going with was just an added bonus!! The pitcher was another item that I already had.

A little bit closer shot of the scale....Blue & Rusty.....LOVE!!!
Who knew that a little bit of rust could make a girl so happy?!

And because I'm crazy like that I here are a few more shots of the items from different angles.....

The "D" if you are wondering is the first initial of our last name. This was just a wooden letter I purchased at Hobby Lobby & painted to match the decor. I also used a little antiquing medium to get the look I was going for. The blue jar/container was also a Kirkland's purchase.

A couple more shots of the vignette as a whole....
I hope you like it as much as I do!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Hope you all have a fabulous week!!

Introducing Gathered & Sown....

Happy Friday Everyone!!

I'm actually writing this post from the Blissdom conference!! Today was the first day of the conference & really was just a lot of meeting & greeting, but I did meet so many new faces & some amazing bloggers!! Tomorrow starts all the sessions & I'm excited to learn more about this wonderful world of blogging!!!

I wanted to take a minute to introduce you to one of my new sponsors....her name is Angie & she has an adorable little shop called Gathered & Sown.

Here is a little bit about Angie & her shop.....

Gathered & Sown was born out of a desire for two women to get together and cultivate their mutual love of sewing. It quickly became more as we began to share our creations with others.

What started out as a hobby and an excuse to spend time together became much more as God grew Gathered & Sown into a business. After my friend moved away, I decided to forge the journey on my own. That was two years ago, and I can't believe how my business has grown! I have done hundreds of bags in the last couple years, with many of them custom orders. My loyal local customers encouraged me to share my creations online, which has brought me from local to Etsy. I feel blessed beyond words as I work each day, keeping up with both sides of my business, local and online.

I love to use an ecclectic mix of vintage and modern fabrics, creating one of a kind and unique bags. I strive to design and create each item as if I were going to carry it myself. Every thing I create is designed, cut, sewn, sold and shipped by me, from my smoke-free home studio. I am a work-at-home mom, who embraces the opportunity to be creative in my work, yet stay available for my family.

Now onto all of her adorable creations!!!

One of the items in Angie's shop that I'm totally crushing on right now are these Ruffled Bible Covers.....

Sooo CUTE, right?! Got to get one of these soon!!!
They are available in a few different colors & patterns!
Be sure to check out her shop for all of the color options!

She also makes these cute little Wristlets.....

These are perfect for when you don't want to carry a purse, but still need all of the essentials!  This popular bag works as a wallet, holding all of your necessities, but giving you the option of pulling it out of your purse and using it as a purse on it's own. Again, they are available in an assortment of fabrics & colors.

These "Gadget Cases" are a new item to the Gathered & Sown shop.
They are such a cute way to carry your iPads, Nooks, or Kindles.
They are fully lined with a cotton lining, with fleece on the front between the lining and cover, to provide the perfect amount of protection for your screen.

I really like these Crayon "On The Go" Doodle Bags as well.
So, so, cute for little girls!!

Angie also has an assortment of adorable Ruffle Bags & Handbags for all you purse lovers out there....

CUTE, CUTE, CUTE!!!

I'll take one of everything please! :)

So, stop by Gathered & Sown today!

You are sure to find something you'll LOVE!!

A Creamy, Dreamy Hutch Display....

Hey Ya'll!

Remember me saying the other day that my mom has been on a roll over at her house?! She has been in the process of creamifying (cuz that's totally a word) her living room & kitchen over the past several weeks.  I showed you some pictures of her living room a couple weeks ago. If you missed it, you can check them out HERE.

Although, the living room isn't quite finished, that didn't stop my mom from moving into the kitchen! She found some plain cream colored dishes at Goodwill a few weeks ago, most of the plates being just 50 cents a piece!

These plates got her wheels spinning & she decided to give her hutch in the kitchen a little makeover!!

Isn't just DREAMY?!

There is something beautiful about this simple color scheme.
I love the display of creamy, dreamy neutrals!!

I'll just shut up & let the pictures do the talking....

I love these little glass jars of oats & marshmallows!
They add just the right amount of texture to the display....

I'm also loving these little faux cupcakes that mom & I made a couple weeks back! And how cute is that little rabbit?! She bought him online through the Pottery Barn website.
I will be posting a tutorial very soon on how to make your own faux cupcakes!

My mom already had this little teapot lamp, but she added a new burlap lampshade to coordinate with her new display...

And these little bird salt & pepper shakers were purchased at Pier 1...
ADORABLE!

And a couple last shots of the whole display again.....

GORGEOUS!!!

My mom has plans of painting her kitchen walls a tan color very soon!

Stay tuned for more updates!

Craigslist Dresser.....Progress

Happy Monday Everyone!

How was your weekend?!

Mine was good! I finally decided to get busy on my Craigslist dresser I showed you like a month ago...

It had just been sitting against this wall in my living room for the last few weeks begging for some attention. I got it all sanded down last weekend with intentions of priming & painting it, but then Valentine's Day happened & it sat in my garage for the rest of the week!

On Saturday, I had my hubby bring it in the house (cuz its too darn cold in the garage) so that I could start priming...

Yesterday, I started painting & I am thrilled with how its turning out!
I can't wait til it's ready for the big reveal!!
But I want to show you what my kitchen has looked like all weekend.....

The kitchen has been my "office" this weekend! Notice I even have my computer on the  kitchen counter for all of my blogging & social media needs!

Here it is Monday morning, and the dresser & drawers are still sitting in the middle of my kitchen as I type this! Oh how I wish, that one day I will have a large space for painting, crafting & all things DIY!!

Until then, I guess this will have to do!!

I'm planning on give the dresser one more coat of paint today & then I will have to seal it with polyurethane.  Maybe, I will have it out of the kitchen by the end of the day.......but no guarantees!

Sure would make cooking dinner tonight a whole lot easier though! :)

What did you work on this weekend?
Any fun projects going on at your house?

Do you refinish furniture in your kitchen, or am I the only one?!
