Well, its finally finished...
I have been staring at this wall for a couple of weeks now, trying to decide what to hang with my DIY pallet art that I revealed a couple of weeks ago. I have had numerous different configurations up, but I think I finally have one that I'm happy with...
What do you think?!
The frames were all ones that I already had laying around the house. I just gave them a coat of paint, distressed them up a bit & added a bit of antiquing glaze to them to give them that aged look...
This little wooden box I purchased at Hobby Lobby along with the little glass jars inside of it. This was the most expensive addition to the mantel, but with buying everything 50% off, I was still able to get it for $10.00. It's definitely one of my favorite pieces...I love the distressed look it has!
The pictures I already had laying around the house as well as the wooden "D" that I put in the larger frame. I just added a coat of brown paint to it & stuck it to the wall inside the frame with a little sticky tack. I also had the little basket with the bottles in it from my previous mantel, I just added a little antiquing glaze to darken it a bit. The "Faith, Family, Friends" sign was also something I already had. I actually stole it from my living room to put on the mantel.
And of course, I took pictures from every different angle, so here ya go...
These hydrangeas I cut off of some of my bushes outside. I already had the jar, so just added some water!
This was all in all a pretty cheap mantel makeover since I used things that I already had laying around the house. If you read this blog regularly, you know that I made the pallet art for $1.00! If you missed that post you can check it out here.
The shelf is something that I have had for a very long time, I gave it a coat of paint for my last mantel project, but decided that I wanted to distress it & antique it a bit for this mantel. I really like the difference it made & think I will definitely leave it like this for my mantel this fall...
Of the two mantel projects thus far, this one is definitely my favorite!!
I will admit, I am looking forward to decorating it for the fall though!!
Can't you just picture some pretty cream pumpkins up on that shelf?!
LOVE!!
