Re-Purposing an Old Metal Sign...

I had this metal sign leftover from my old laundry room decor...

Its cute, but just doesn't go in my newly made over laundry room!

I didn't want to get rid of it, so I thought I would just try to

 re-purpose it & make it work in my new space!

I started out by priming it & giving it a couple coats of white spray paint...

I taped off a section on the top of the sign to paint green...

And then decided that the bottom needed a little something extra as well so I added tape to add a green stripe on the bottom too...

Once it dried, I took all the tape off & was left with this...

I used some pink polka dot scrapbook paper that I already had, cut the word "BLESSED" out with my cricut machine, & then used some Mod Podge to secure it to the sign.

Then I took some white cardstock that I had laying around the house & cut it into 2 squares & did the same with my leftover fabric from my DIY wall art.

I decoupaged the fabric onto the cardstock using the Mod Podge as well...

Then I took some black & white photos of my kids, cut them into smaller squares so that the fabric served as a background for them. I also used some clothespins that I had, painted them green & used them to attach the photos to the sign.

I attached the clothespins to the sign using some hot glue...

This is what it looked like when I finished...

Hmmm....still missing something...

Ahhh...much better!

Nothing a few little flowers can't fix!!

My mom actually made these little flowers with some leftover scrapbook paper & used pieces of toothpick for the center...

My mom & I decided that it looked cute in the middle of my DIY wall art, so I got rid of the one that was hanging in the middle & replaced it with my new made-over metal sign!

I think it looks pretty cute!!

The best part about this project?

I had everything I needed already on hand...

All left over supplies from previous projects!!

So, it cost me....

NOTHING!!!

Now that's the kind of project I like!!

So before you throw away an old picture/metal sign or sell it in a yard sale...

Think about whether or not you can re-purpose it & make it work in your new space!!
