DIY Cheap Wall Art...

While trying to decide on wall art for my laundry room & after seeing my friend Jessica's DIY chargers, I decided to make a trip to JoAnn Fabrics to check out some fabric for my new space.

I decided on the fabric to the far right, thinking that the light green color in the fabric would go well with my wall color. I had an idea for some wall art, but wasn't sure how it was going to look. I almost talked myself out of it, but I knew it wasn't going to cost a lot of money, so I decided just to go for it!

The fabric was on sale for $6.99/yd and I decided I would only need half of a yard for what I had in mind...
Total cost for the fabric - $3.50

Then I went to the dollar store & bought 3 of these frames for $1 a piece...
Total cost for the frames - $3.00

I took the glass out of them & painted the frames white using some white paint I already had laying around the house...

I wanted each picture to look unique, so I cut out 3 different sections of the fabric using the glass as my pattern. I did cut the fabric a little larger than the size of the glass however, because I want a little extra to work with...

I put the glass back in the frame and the placed the fabric inside...

I also placed a sheet of white paper behind the fabric, so the cardboard backing of the frame didn't shine through fabric...

Then I put the cardboard backing back on...

You can trim the extra fabric off if you want, I will be honest I just left the extra because once the print is hanging, you can't see it anyway!! You can see that I also didn't paint the back side of the frame as well :)

Turn the frame around & voila...

You have a beautiful piece of art for your wall!!

I just love the way these prints look in my laundry room!
They brought in the pink accent color that I wanted a brought a touch of femininity to the space!

I also {LOVE} that they only cost $6.50 for all three!!

I have a few other projects in mind for this fabric...
STAY TUNED!! :)

  1. Serious love! Another idea is scrapbook paper. The selection is so ridiculously vast now, and they have such fancy paper! But I do love the texture that fabric gives. Thanks for sharing!

  15. Cute, easy and inexpensive! Right up my alley!

I just started a linky party this past Tuesday. It was a great success with over 50 link ups! I would love it if you would participate next week! It's called $10 Tuesdays and it's for things that cost less than $10 and take 20-30 mins (ish) to complete. I love inexpensive and quick projects and I'm guessing others will too ;) Thanks so much for considering.
