I wanted to share with you this fun & easy project I did today...
Now that Parker is in school, I am always on the look-out
for cute teacher gifts!
With it getting towards the end of the school year, I have been trying to come up with gift ideas of my own...
Gifts that I can make myself & that don't cost an arm & a leg!!
A few months ago, as I was opening a new can of formula and getting ready to pitch the old can in the trash, I thought to myself..."I could totally make something out of these..."
Hmmm...what to make, what to make???
Then I got an idea!!!
I will make planters out of them!!
So today, I got started!!
I took a nail & a hammer and poked drainage holes in the
bottom of the can...
I did 7 holes....you can do as many as you like..
not an exact science!!
I found this school themed scrapbook paper at hobby lobby to decorate the can with...
I took some Mod Podge & decoupaged the paper onto
the formula can...
Once the Mod Podge was all dry, I took it outside & added some potting soil to the bottom...
Then added my flowers & a ribbon (also from Hobby Lobby)...
It was cute, but still missing something...
I found some little chalkboards that I had leftover from another
project & hot glued it on...
Much Better!!!
I chose the saying "A+ Teacher" but you could write whatever you like on yours...
Thank You!!
Teacher's Name
(i.e. Mrs. Smith)
#1 Teacher
The list goes on & on...
Use Your Imagination!!!
This project was fun, easy, & cheap (my favorite)!!!
Formula Cans-Free (recycled)
Ribbon-$1.50 (on sale at Hobby Lobby)
Chalkboards-$1.00 (JoAnn Fabrics)
Scrapbook Paper-0.59 (Hobby Lobby)
Geraniums-$1.25 (Walmart..I used 2 per can)
Grand Total = $5.59 (not including tax)
Pretty cute gift for less than $6, huh?
